Emergency triage is fundamentally aimed at prioritizing care based on an individual’s medical needs in order to save lives and provide the best possible outcomes in a crisis situation. This process becomes particularly crucial in scenarios where medical resources are limited and there are numerous patients with varying degrees of injuries or illnesses.

When healthcare professionals perform triage, they assess the severity of each patient's condition and categorize them to ensure that those who require immediate attention receive it first.
